2) Wholesome Pancakes

3) Sweet and Salty Energy Bites

Consuming the usual race nutrition of gels, sugary drinks, bars and gummies work for a time, but long training days or races require more satiating snacks. Some of the classic choices such as chips, pretzels and granola bars are all typically store bought. The downside to this is that they’re loaded with unnecessary preservatives, high levels of sodium and sugar and packed in environmentally unfriendly waste. Luckily, these tasty bites can be made at home with regular ingredients.

4) Vegan jam-filled cookies

When you start getting into the heavy build stage of training, it is common to feel hungry all of the time. Instead of choosing an unhealthy treat to reward yourself for the hard work, try one of these healthy cookies from my favourite recipe. These cookies will satisfy any cookie monster while providing a bunch of nutrients from wholesome ingredients.

5) No-bake Cheesecake

The body is battling the daily grind and burning copious amounts of calories. It’s hardly surprising that dreams of treats become more frequent. We attempt to avoid such indulgences while trying to keep the body running like a well-oiled machine. However, sometimes the need for a tasty morsel becomes too much, and we’re left debating about what to do.

If you’re eating cleanly, and making good everyday food choices, having a treat every once in a while won’t ruin your fitness.
