Why you should always read the pre-race event guide

— by Daniel Clarke

Some athletes get really excited for a race to publish its event guide, but a surprising number of athletes never look at it. Meticulous and detail orientated in their training, using power meters and HR monitors to track data, but when it comes to race day that precision disappears. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve done a race before or not, if it’s an Ironman or a local Sprint triathlon, spending 20 minutes looking over the event guide for a race lets you control the control-ables, and helps ensure you have your best race.
