Following the huge success of their inaugural sold-out event in 2013, Olympians Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee added a southern race to the Yorkshire event. The Brownlee Tri South will take place on Sunday June 15 at an as yet unconfirmed location and the North race will take place on Sunday September 21 on the grounds of the Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal, a National Trust property.

The brother’s created the series in conjunction with the Professional Sports Group and industry partners such as adidas to appeal to all age groups and abilities and to perpetuate their own passion for the sport. Following last year’s event Alistair  insisted that it was “[a]mazing to see so many people enjoying triathlon in the same area I found my love for the sport.”

The Yorkshire course was popular with competitors. It is challenging and beautiful. The race day also featured events for family and spectators including a youth relay race and a children’s triathlon activity zone.

“We’re just looking at getting people into the sport. Getting people fit, appreciating being outside and competing in an inspiring setting like Fountains Abbey,” explained Jonathan.

Last year the brothers raced themselves but they also cheered on competitors, signed autographs and posed for pictures.
