The big names in Nice this year will be, 2013 Ironman world champion Fred Van Lierde and Canadian triathlete Magali Tisseyre.

Known for its breathtaking landscape and challenging course, Ironman France is a bucket list race.

Not able to go to Nice, France this weekend? The pro race at Ironman France will be live on the Ironman website on Sunday. Hosts Greg Welch and Micheal Lovato will entertain viewers for ten hours, going through features and highlights of the city.

The big names in Nice this year will be 2013 Ironman world champion Fred Van Lierde on the men’s side. And Canadian triathlete Magali Tisseyre on the women’s side.

Van Lierde is the defending Ironman France champion, as well as a four-time champion of the race. The course is a favourite of his as he can power his way on the bike and post a respectable run. He is a favourite heading into this weekend, though he will have his fair share of competition. Cameron Wurf, holder of the bike course record at Kona will be in Nice. Also, 2016 Ironman France champion Victor del Corral will be back, with eyes on the top step.

Tisseyre will be racing in Nice this weekend, as she hunts for Kona qualification points. A contender on the 70.3 circuit, with 16 wins to her name, Tisseyre will be looking to have a strong performance. She will be up against top female pros, including Carrie Lester from Australia, who has won many full distance triathlons.

The bike course is challenging to say the least, with over 2000m of climbing, the ride leaves a nasty sting in the legs. Opposite from the bike, the run is a fast looped course along the Promenade des Anglais, finishing right by the sea.
