Boutin and Sobey are the top Canadians at CAMTRI Montreal

Canada's young triathlon stars impress in Montreal

Before Canada’s Joanna Brown thrilled the Montreal crowd with a fourth-place finish on Saturday, Elisabeth Boutin and Martin Sobey topped the leaderboard in the CAMTRI Pan America Sprint Cup.

In the women’s race, Australia’s Emma Jackson broke away from the rest of the field in the swim and didn’t look back. She stayed away on the bike, and went into the 5K run with nearly a minute lead. Amy Cymerman (USA) finished second, followed by teammate Brittany Warly. Canada’s Elisabeth Boutin would finish 40 seconds behind Warly. Three other Canadians would finish inside the top 10 – Samantha Klus, Laurin Thorne and Kamille Larocque.

In the men’s race, America’s Morgan Pearson took his first ITU elite win. He was followed by fellow countrymen, Robby Webster and Tommy Zaferes. Martin Sobey would be the first Canadian across the line in eighth position and was quickly followed by Quebec’s Pavlos Antoniades in ninth.
