A triathlon that finishes on Alpe d’Huez

The famous climb in the Tour de France, is the finish line for the Alpe d'Huez Long Course Triathlon

Yesterday, Fredrik Van Lierde (BEL) and Emma Bilham (SUI) won the Alpe d’Huez Long Course Triathlon in the French Alps. The triathlon is made up of a 2.2K swim, 118K bike and a 20K run that finishes on top of Alpe d’Huez.

Alpe d’Huez is one of the most legendary climbs in the Tour de France. This year in the Tour de France, Geraint Thomas won the 12th stage on this mountain. He would then go onto win this year’s edition of the Tour.

Not a month later, some of triathlons toughest competitors took on the mountain, and it was Van Lierde and Bilham who were victorious.
