Triathlon Canada World Championships Application Deadline Feb 14
Still haven’t set your race schedule for 2014? How about world champs? Triathlon Canada is calling for applications for two world championship events. If you are an Elite, U23 or Junior Division athlete wishing to race the  2014 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships  taking place in Zittau, Germany  on August 16th  or the 2014 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships in Weihai, China on  September 21st, you need to submit applications by Friday February 14th.
Last year’s events saw some excellent results by Canadian women in the elite race. Rachel McBride was 3rd in the Long Distance World Championships and Chantell Widney was 3rd in the Cross Triathlon World Championships which consisted of a 1km swim , 26 km mountain bike segment through the beach and sand dunes of The Hague. Â On the men’s side two Canadians made the top twenty. Mathieu Bilodeau was 19th and Jean Phillipe Thibodeau was 20th.
To apply, athletes must be current members of their Provincial Triathlon Organization. Although Triathlon Canada is not obligated to fill all quota spots, there are  six male and six female spots up for grabs. While racing as part of a team comes with many practical and social benefits, athletes will be responsible for all costs associated with the event (including team fee, uniform kit fee, race entry fee and travel and accommodations).
Athletes whose applications are accepted will need to register as a team member on Triathlon Canada’s website.
