Triathlon Alberta Announces Age Group Provincial Champs Series

The 2015 Adult Championship Series Awards will be based on an objective criteria that will be both consistent and transparent.

 Please note: The series will be comprised of several races, but they are yet to be determined. Stay tuned to see which races will be a part of your Age Group Provincial Championship Series!


The Series:

•    Must be a full member of the ATA. Day members are not eligible.

•    Age is calculated as of December 31, 2015
•    Events must be sanctioned with the ATA
•    Points are awarded according to age category and race distance
•    The top ten males and top ten females will receive points at the end of the season
•    Top 3 males and top 3 females in each category (i, ii, iii) according to 10-year age groups will receive awards at our AGM
•    In the instance where one or more individuals have the same number of points, the winner will be determined by a count back (see Count-Back Policy).

Points will be awarded as follows:

Category i: 3 races completed at Sprint distance
Category ii: 3 races completed at Standard distance
Category iii: 2 races completed at Long distance

Age Categories:
•    20-29
•    30-39
•    40-49
•    50-59
•    60-69
•    70-79
•    80+

 

ATA Count-Back Policy
When two or more member competitors are tied at the end of the Championship Series, the winner will be determined using the following policy, and in order;
1)     Member competitor with the most number of wins (i.e; point score of 10 points) in all races, where points can be scored.
If still tied;
2)    Member competitor with the most number of second places (i.e; point score of 9 points) in all races where points can be scored.
If still tied;
3)     Member competitor with the most number of third places (i.e; point score of 8 points), in all races where points can be scored.

If still tied;
4)    Member competitor with the most number of head to head victories in all races where points can be scored.

If still tied;
5)    Winner will be declared on placing at the AGM Provincial Hill Climb at the Calgary Olympic Park (bike or run depending on the weather).
