For over 30 years Mike Reilly was known around the world as the “Voice of Ironman.” The Californian legend was the first to coin the expression “You are an Ironman,” the mantra for those finishing Ironman events. Despite calling it an announcing career in 2022 (see below), Reilly will return for a special occasion to call the 25th anniversary of Ironman Lake Placid on July 21, 2024.

Reilly’s announcing career spanned over 33 years, including 33 Ironman World Championship events and a total of 214 Ironman races. Over that time period he welcomed over half a million athletes across their Ironman finish line.

“Since 1999, the Lake Placid community, its residents, and the extraordinary athletes have deeply touched my heart and soul,” Reilly said. “I am filled with immense joy to return to Ironman Lake Placid to celebrate its 25th anniversary. It is an honour to once again guide you to the iconic finish line at the Olympic Oval and proudly proclaim each of you an Ironman.”
