PTO Asian Open features showdown between Ashleigh Gentle, Lucy Charles-Barclay and Anne Haug

The top-three from Ibiza face off again in Singapore

The top three in the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) ranking highlight the 20-woman field for the PTO Asian Open on Aug. 19.

PTO World #1 Ashleigh Gentle, who won both PTO Open events last year and took second at the PTO European Open in Ibiza in May will take on #2 ranked Anne Haug, who won in Ibiza, and #3 Lucy Charles-Barclay, who took third.

Last year’s Ironman world champion, Chelsea Sodaro has also confirmed she’ll compete. The race will feature 11 of the top 30 women in the PTO World Rankings.

Small but very competitive field announced for PTO Asian Open

Here’s a list of the confirmed automatic qualifiers, which were based on the top-10 PTO rankings from June 12, and the 11 to 16 rankings from July 10.

The 100 km race (2 km swim, 80 km bike and 18 km run) offers US$600,000 split between the men and women, with the winner taking home $100,000, second $50,000 and third $35,000.
