ITU World Championship qualifying races in Alberta

At the end of 2018, Triathlon Alberta announced the qualifying venues for the 2020 ITU World Multisport Championships (Almere, Netherlands) and ITU World Triathlon Championships (Edmonton, AB).

The Chinook Triathlon Festival will be the first Olympic triathlon qualifying event (June 15th) of the race calendar. It will offer two spots per age group – male and female. The World Triathlon Series (WTS) event (July 20th and 21st) in Edmonton will offer three spots per age group – male and female.

Updated on Jan. 18, the 2019 Great White North Triathlon will have the following qualifying spots available:

  • 1 Standard Triathlon Spot
  • 2 Long Course Triathlon Spots
  • 2 Standard Duathlon Spots
  • 2 Aquabike Spots

In 2019, Triathlon Alberta will offer four qualifying events for the sprint distance. The first will be held at the Victory Triathlon on June 22nd, in Edmonton. Three spots per age group will be available. Two qualifying spots per age group will be up for grabs at WTS Edmonton in July. Only one qualifying spot will be open at the Stettler Triathlon (July 14) and St. Albert Triathlon (August 11).

In addition to the two qualifying spots at the Great White North Triathlon, the Multi-sport at the Lake (Aug. 11th) will offer one spot per age group for the standard duathlon. Multi-sport at the Lake will also provide one spot for the sprint duathlon and aquabike event.
