Two Canadians selected to race in Kona for Ironman’s 40 for 40 contest

Garth Miller and Jonathan Bernard will be heading to the 2018 Ironman World Championship

To celebrate 40 years of the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii this year, Ironman selected 40 age group athletes in a draw to compete at the iconic race.

Athletes were automatically entered for the contest when they registered for  a full distance Ironman event in 2018. These athletes do not have to qualify for Kona by winning their age group at a given race — they were simply awarded the spot based on their registration.

Two Canadian athletes, Garth Miller and Jonathan Bernard, were among the 40 granted a commemorative extra spot this year.
