Jen Annett goes sub-9, sets bike course record for third at Ironman Arizona

Annett's 4:38 bike split put her into the lead heading into T2, and her strong marathon secured her podium behind two of the best female triathletes in long course racing right now

Capping off her breakout year of consistent podium finishes the whole season at Ironman and 70.3 events, Canada’s Jen Annett placed third behind two powerhouse women at Ironman Arizona today. The Penticton native had her first sub-9 hour Ironman with an 8:59:27 finish.

After a 1:01:44 swim, Annett clocked an amazing record-breaking 4:38 bike split and was the first woman off the bike. She eventually lost her lead to Helle Frederiksen and super-runner Kaisa Sali (fifth at Kona this year), but ran a 3:15 marathon to hang on tight for third.
