Last week we reported that Great Britain’s Sean Conway was getting very close to breaking the record set by the Iron Cowboy, James Lawrence – 101 consecutive “full Iron” efforts in a row – that’s a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike and a 42.2 km run 101 days in a row.

Great Britain’s Sean Conway is a week away from breaking the Iron Cowboy’s record

Conway is an accomplished adventurer who has cycled around the world, swam the length of Great Britain, holds the record for cycling across Europe (24 days, 18 hours and 39 minutes), completed a 4,200 mile triathlon around the coast of Great Britain (“the toughest 85 days of my life as I attempted the entire feat completely self supported”), climbed Kilimanjaro in a penguin suit and many other impressive feats since 2011.

“When I heard about your 50.50.50 I was blown away,” Conway wrote on Instagram after tying Lawrence’s record today. “Such determination and resilience. I remember thinking ‘I wonder if I could do that?’, and then promptly deciding I couldn’t, and moved on with my life. Then when I saw you conquer 100, and then doing ONE more, it again inspired me to push my own limits and my perception of those limits. I always knew deep down that maybe, just maybe I too could do 101 like you James. You’ve inspired so so many people, and I hope you are proud of that Sir.”

“So tomorrow I hope that you’re happy to let me be the new custodian of the Most Full Irons Record,” Conway continued.
