There are few things in life that are as certain as death. Taxes, and Ken Glah competing at the Ironman World Championship.

Glah was one of the most successful Ironman distance athletes in the 1980s and early 1990s and was a consistent top-10 finisher. He had the longest streak of any his of competitors, beginning his incredible 37-year run in 1984 and ending it back in St. George, Utah in 2022.

That’s more world championship finishes than Dave Scott, Mark Allen, Craig Alexander and Lionel Sanders … combined.

Was it the change in venue that motivated the “Beast From the East” to sit out what would have been his long run of yearly Ironman World Championship racing? As it turns out, no.

“This year life got in the way and I was unable to do any qualifying races, so I won’t be racing in Nice,” Glah says.

Glah does, however, have his sights set on making a return to Kona in 2024, so for those in the male 60-64 age group, look out!
