Australian Cam Wurf (centre, pictured above with defending Ironman Lanzarote champion Kenneth Vandendriesche, left, and Sam Laidlow) somehow balances a pro triathlon career with life as a pro cyclist – he’s a member of World Tour powerhouse Ineos Grenadiers. This weekend, though, he’s back to triathlon mode as he looks to qualify for the Ironman World Championship in Nice at Ironman Lanzarote.

He’ll be taking on the man who claimed Wurf’s bike course record in Kona last October – Sam Laidlow. Wurf is looking forward to taking on the young Frenchman, and promises a spirited duel between the two on the course renowned as the toughest in Ironman racing.

We caught up with Wurf as he prepared for the race in the Canary Islands.
