Triathlon Canada will be in the hunt for another CEO – after a short tenure of about a year, Joe Moressette has been wooed away by Speed Skating Canada. He’ll start his new position with one of Canada’s most successful Olympic sports programs on July 10.

“Joe’s experience, passion and energy will be valuable assets to our organization as he leads Speed Skating Canada towards our vision of inspiring excellence on and off the ice,” said Blair Carbert, Speed Skating Canada President. “His skillset and track record of delivering results, his commitment to embedding a culture of safe sport within organizations, and his keen understanding of the realities of the Canadian sport system, will all be instrumental in guiding the speed skating community through our 2023-2027 Strategic Plan.”

Morissette took over the CEO position at Triathlon Canada after a tumultuous period that culminated with former CEO Kim Van Bruggen, head coach Jono Hall and high-performance director Eugene Laing all leaving the organization after the Tokyo Olympics.

Formerly the CEO of Badminton Canada, Morissette has been involved in international sport since 2005.

“I am incredibly excited to join Speed Skating Canada as its CEO,” Morissette said. “This is an extraordinary opportunity to work collaboratively alongside the sport’s talented athletes, passionate members, and dedicated board and staff. Together, we will strive to create an environment within our speed skating community that fosters growth, nurtures talent, promotes our values, and propels everyone toward their full potential.”
