Hauschildt dominates and Don runs to victory at Ironman 70.3 Augusta
Great Britain’s Tim Don led the way today but it was a close battle. He got of the bike with Australia’s Paul Matthews and Germany’s Nils Frommhold both just less than 5 seconds behind him. However, once on the run Don broke free of them and stayed away from the rest to cross the finish first to claim the Ironman 70.3 Augusta title in 3:44:50. Kelowna’s Trevor Wurtele, the 2013 Ironman Canada champion, had a strong run to finish fourth (3:49:07).
Australia’s Melissa Hauschildt, who won the Ironman 70.3 World Championship on September 8, easily took the victory today due to the top bike (2:19:23) and run (1:18:59). Her 4:03:27 finish time gave her a margin of victory just shy of 12 minutes. Toronto’s Miranda Tomenson finished sixth in 4:24:53.
