McMahon wins Ironman 70.3 Philippines

Brent McMahon ran away from the field to take the win at Ironman 70.3 Philippines on Sunday in Lapu Lapu city. Under very hot and humid conditions McMahon ran an impressive 1:17:59 to pull away from Sam Betten who stuck by him on the swim and bike. Betten finished second in 4:07:30 eventually giving McMahon a comfortable lead. New Zealand’s Cameron Brown was third in 4:15:44. On the women’s side Caroline Steffen successfully defended her title in 4:32:34 ahead of Australian Rebecca Hoschke in 4:32:34 and Belinda Granger who was third in 4:48:32.
