Now in its third year, the weeklong multi-sport event “Challenge Laguna Phuket Tri-Fest” will take place November 22, first with the Laguna Phuket Triathlon and then one week later on November 29, half distance enthusiasts will race Challenge Laguna Phuket.

The unique distance of the Laguna Phuket Triathlon is a great in-between distance for those trying to moving from the Olympic to half distance. The event is comprised of a 1.8km swim, 55km bike, and 12km run. With a 25,000 Euro prize purse, the event attracts strong entries from international pros. Last year’s defending champs will be racing again including Italians Massimo Cigana and Alberto Casadei who tied last year for first, as well as Swiss Olympian Ruedi Wild who took the Challenge title. Third in the Challenge race last year, Luke McKenzie will also be returning along with his partner American Beth Gerdes. There are certain to be fast race splits again this year.

So far, more than 1,300 athletes have signed up for both events. At least 1,500 athletes are expected to take part this year. If you missed out on racing this summer and you’re looking for a late season destination race, or if you simply want to sneak in another race before the end of the year, the Challenge Laguna Phuket Tri-Fest is an exciting option.
