While attending Cornell University, Taylor Knibb competed on the swim, track and cross country teams. While doing all that she was also representing the United States as one of its premier triathletes. Since graduating from Cornell, Knibb has become one of the world’s most versatile triathletes, taking a silver medal as part of the American mixed relay team in Tokyo, posting the fastest time at the inaugural Collins Cup and, a week later, taking the World Triathlon Grand Final in Edmonton. Then, of course, she also won last year’s Ironman 70.3 World Championship in St. George, Utah. (Photo above.)

Knibb came very close to adding another podium performance at today’s USA National Cycling Championships, getting nudged out of the top three by less than two seconds. Knibb finished the 23.5 km course in 31.41.22, with Amber Neben just getting ahead of her to take the bronze medal in 31:39.54. Chloe Dygert won gold in 31:06.65, with Lauren Stephens taking the silver medal in 31:15.67.

Taylor Knibb signs with Trek-Segafredo professional cycling team

This was Knibb’s first race as part of the Trek-Segafredo professional cycling team – she looks to combine a limited number of road races with her triathlon schedule as she gears up for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris next year.

Now Knibb will need to bounce back from her hard cycling effort and get ready for Saturday’s World Triathlon Championship Series Montreal.
