Challenge Family makes US debut in Atlantic City this weekend

The Challenge Family hits the US for the first time this Sunday at the inaugural Challenge Atlantic City triathlon festival this Sunday June 29th.

Over 1,500 athletes will join four-time world champion and Challenge Family ambassador, Chris McCormack,  four-time Challenge champion, Dylan McNeice of New Zealand and hometown New Jersey athlete, Challenge Penticton champion, Carrie Lester and multiple long distance champion, American Jesse Donovan. Triathlon’s superstar couple, Timothy O’Donnell and two-time world champion Mirinda Carfrae will race in the Challenge Atlantic relay teams, both raising money for charity in the process.

Encouraging fund-raising, Challenge Atlantic City will embrace the ‘Challenge Your Self, Race for a Cause’ theme. Athletes will begin their day with a 3.8 km sheltered swim in the back bays of Atlantic City. A flat and fast 180 km bike course will use portions of the Atlantic City Expressway and country roads throughout Atlantic County featuring vineyards, state forests, riverside towns.

The flat marathon run course finishes on the world famous Boardwalk . “The Challenge Family is recognized as one of the top prestigious international sports events,” said Mayor Don Guardian. “Atlantic City’s hosting of the Challenge Family’s first entry into the United States marketplace will further enhance our reputation as a world-class destination.”
