Recently married power couple Mirinda Carfrae and Tim O’Donnell take first and second at 70.3 Ironman Brazil this past weekend. Carfrae’s coach Siri Lindley  had  three athletes in the top five of the women’s race including third place finisher Amanda Stevens and Valentina Carvallo who was fourth.  Stevens owned the swim  in 25:22 giving her a two minute lead that she held on the bike.

Carfrae had problems with her timing chip but exited the water quite a ways back.  She easily cut into that deficit on the bike. With her characteristic speed on the run,  Carfrae took the lead with a 1:23:37 to cross the line first in 4:15:01. Stevens faded to third in the heat with a 1:34:12 run to finish in 4:23:12, while Furriela moved up through the ranks with a fast 1:25:55 to come in second (4:20:04).

O’Donnell’s second fastest run of 1:16:56 got him second in an overall time of 3:49:39, behind winner Tim Don in 3:46:55, while Brasil’s Igor Amorelli ran 1:19:21 to come in third.
