The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) is set to announce its full PTO Tour schedule along with the athletes who will be taking part in the series this year on January 30. A week out from that official announcement, though, the PTO has announced an event in Lake Las Vegas which will take place on Oct. 19 and 20, 2024.

Last week an astute observer posted on the Slowtwitch forum that the PTO’s website had inadvertently disclosed an event in Las Vegas.

Lake Las Vegas, which is just outside of the famous “entertainment capital of the world,” is where Ironman hosted the swim for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship for the three years (2011 to 2013) that event took place in Henderson, Nevada. According to a release sent out by the PTO today, the PTO Lake Las Vegas Open will take “place around the picturesque Lake Las Vegas on the grounds of Reflection Bay Golf Club and The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa.”

The 100 km event (2 km swim/ 80 km bike/ 18 km run) will include the Pro Tour event that will feature 20 female and male professionals, along with an age group race over the same distance. Registration for the age group race is set to open in February.

Today’s announcement is the third event of the PTO 2024 Tour to be officially announced along with the PTO Asian Open in Singapore and the PTO European Open in Ibiza.
