It’s already been a massive festival of multisport racing … and we haven’t even got to the main event here at the Noosa Triathlon. After yesterday’s charity run and open water swim (not to mention the swim/run event held on Wednesday) the festival of activity continued at this year’s 40th anniversary event with a kids triathlon and the “Super Saturday” racing that included criterium cycling, a “legends” relay triathlon and a 5 km run.

Jack Rayner and Caitlin Adams both defended their Asics Noosa Bolt 5 km titles, with Rayner taking the win in 13:56 and Adams in 16:00.

In the Australian Open Criterium women’s event Ella Simpson was the rider to beat for most of the racing, pushing ahead to take an impressive victory.

Declan Trezise claimed his first Australian Open Criterium men’s title, edging out Matt Boys and Black Quick across the 40 minutes plus three laps race.

The team of Courtney Atkinson, Sergio Baxter and Luke Willian took the win in the Legends Triathlon, with Willian passing multiple-time Ironman race winner Tim Van Berkel in the final couple of hundred metres to take the tape first.

Here are some photos from today’s exciting events:
