It’s his last year of professional racing, so to celebrate his “Discontinued” tour, Sebastian Kienle will ride and auction off special edition Scott Plasma 6 bikes for charity. The first bike featured a special Ironman New Zealand theme. This weekend Kienle will ride the second of the bikes that will be part of the “Discontinued” program.

Challenge Roth was the German star’s first long-distance race, and he made a splash in his debut, taking second to Rasmus Henning and breaking the eight-hour barrier. Kienle is back to race Roth one last time this weekend, and will auction off this special edition bike to raise money for Stiftung Bildung, a German charity that works to improve education for children. The winner will have the chance to receive the bike from Kienle in person.

“Roth was my very first long course race,” Kienle said. “I was the first ever triathlete who broke the 8 hour mark on the first try. Back then this was something special. It also really kicked off my career. Roth is probably the best long course race in the world when it comes to the all around experience. This will be the last time I race a long course race in my home country.”

About the bike

The bike features handwritten text that is custom painted across the Plasma 6 frame and Zipp wheel set.

“The writing, which is Sebi’s own from when he was a child, has a strong connection to a charity close to his heart: Stiftung Bildung,” Scott reported in a release about the bike. “Having found difficulty with school learning as a kid, Sebi closely supports investment in children’s education, which proceeds from the auctioned bike will support.”

“The “Stiftung Bildung” tries to improve education for children,” Kienle said. “I was very fortunate as a kid to have very motivated teachers and parents. I was a very energetic kid but I had a lot of problems staying concentrated. Therefore I struggled a lot in some subjects. Later I went on and studied physics. But not every child is that fortunate. I think with a good education we can cure pretty much every other problem there is. But this needs more investment.”
