Reserve Wheels launches carbon road wheel line

New wheels feature a collaboration between "Cervelo aero and Santa Cruz durability"

We all know Cervélo as the Canadian aero bike brand founded by Phil White and Gerard Vroomen. In 2012 the company was sold to Pon Holdings, which owns a number of brands including high-end mountain bike manufacturer Santa Cruz.

Renowned for the durability of its products, the engineers at Santa Cruz introduced their own bullet-proof, high-performance mountain bike wheels in 2017. Santa Cruz and Cervelo have collaborated to create a new series of Reserve road wheels – as they describe it, “Cervélo aero meets Santa Cruz durability.” The wheels are all tubeless ready.

The new wheels will be released on a number of new 2021 Cervélo road models this year, and at least one triathlon model will feature the new wheels, too, but we’ll have to wait until later this year for the official announcement to know which one. A new website, reservewheels.com will celebrate the new brand – the new road wheels will be available for aftermarket purchase in 2021.

Today’s announcement also included some gravel wheelsets, but we’ll focus on the three road models that are most likely to appeal to triathletes.

Reserve 65

The 65 mm deep model is likely to be the most popular wheelset for triathletes, although you’re likely going to see a lot of people pair the Reserve 65 rear with the Reserve 50 front to avoid issues with crosswinds. According to today’s release, the 65 will be “most aero when used with 25c tires and most comfortable when 28c tubeless tires are mounted.”
