Polar launches two new multisport watches: Vantage M2 and Ignite 2

It’s a big day for Polar, the company that developed the first wireless heart rate monitor way back when – the company has launched two new watches: the Vantage M2, geared towards performance training and measurement, and the Ignite 2, a 24/7 smartwatch with lots of sports and fitness features.

Polar Vantage M2

According to today’s release on the new Vantage M2, it will offer “up to 100 hours of battery life in training mode and unrivalled precision to accurately track progress and recovery.”

The lightweight (45 g) watch features an always-on 1.2-inch colour display with 240 x 240 resolution. There’s a stainless steel bezel and lots of different coloured wristbands available. The wrist-based HR monitor and GPS provide lots of training info, but the Vantage M2 will also provide daily workout plans and monitor the impact your training is having to ensure you’re taking enough time to recover – even tracking sleep length and quality. There are also lots of smartwatch features including wrist-based music controls, weather reports and push notifications.

Polar Ignite 2

The Ignite 2 smartwatch features a sleek, lightweight design with lots of smartwatch features that offers up to five days of battery life, according to Polar. You can personalize the watch with a variety of watch faces and bands, “including bands embellished with real crystals from Swarovski.” You get wrist-based HR data and GPS functions to track workouts and location, and the watch will also track your sleep and recovery data. The HR sensor can be paired with gym equipment and cycling computers, and, like the Vantage M2, the watch will offer personalized daily workouts. Like the Vantage M2, the watch has lots of smartwatch features including music controls, weather info and push notifications.

The Ignite 2 is expected to be available in May, while the Vantage M2 is expected to land in April.
