Merrell Launches Elite Age Group Team

Merrell clothing and footwear is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle and as part of that aim has launched the Merrell Team powered by Louis Garneau. The team, founded by Pierre-Yves Gigou, a long time Merrell Ambassador, brings together amateur athletes between the ages of 25 and 35 who encourage those around them to stay active and who embody Merrell’s slogan, “Out Perform”—a commitment to outdoor physical activity and surpassing one’s limits. The nine members of the team include: Mireille Rodrigue, Juliane Lacroix, Pierre-Yves Gigou, Jérôme Bresson, David Lacombe, Nicolas Courville, Victor Larocque, Julien Biboud and David Maltais. Determined to surpass themselves, these athletes are excellent role models for today’s youth. Many team members raced the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Mont-Tremblant and will race in Kona in October. The team will also race Ironman Mont -Tremblant and Ironman Muskoka in 2015, both of which are sponsored by Merrell.

Together with the Fédération de Triathlon du Québec, led by Benoît Hugo St‑Pierre and Sébastien Gilbert-Corlay, Merrell has introduced the sport of triathlon to over 13,000 school age children who took part in races through Merrell’s School Triathlon Program. In 2012, the program saw 5,700 young people from 17 schools race. In 2013, more than 10,000 youth from 25 schools met the challenge. This free program is gaining in popularity in primary and secondary schools.
