She won last year’s Test Event, She’s the reigning world champion. Despite having only got into the sport after competing at the 2016 Olympics as a runner, Great Britain’s Beth Potter has surged to the top of the sport, and will arrive in Paris as the woman to beat.

Make no mistake, the win is far from a foregone conclusion. France’s own Cassandre Beaugrand was second to Potter at the Test Event last year, and recently won WTCS Cagliari in an exciting sprint that saw Potter take third.

One of Potter’s sponsors, Cadex, produced the video below that offers an inside look at Potter’s preparation for the Games in Paris this summer and her unique journey from track runner to Olympic favourite. She’s had a unique journey to the top of the sport, one that hasn’t always been easy, we learn, as she’s dealt with the challenges of learning to bike and swim, and the ever-present injury issues that can wreak havoc on an athlete’s Olympic preparation.

It’s an interesting look into the drive, determination and sacrifices required to be the best.
