TriStar Cannes and TriStar Lyon 2013 registrations are officially open! Cannes will host the second edition of its international triathlon on 14 April opening the European season, TriStar Lyon will take place on 30 June, in the heart of the city of light.
TriStar unveils the 2013 dates of two of its most desired races in Europe. TriStar Cannes will be held in the capital of cinema for the second time on 14 April, offering a glamorous prelude for the upcoming season.
This will be one of the earliest triathlon events in Europe, with one of the most demanding and unique bike courses in France, bringing the opportunity to athletes and their families to enjoy one of the most pleasant sport areas in this charming Mediterranean town. The finish-line of TriStar55.5 and TriStar111 Cannes will be located just a stone’s throw away from the famous venue of the film festival.
Several new features and improvements are to be noted for the 2013 edition, starting with a new race venue: Verdun Square. Located between the beach of Palm Beach and Port Canto, this place will bring together the Star&Co expo village, the finishline and the bike park for a magical atmosphere. The swim part will take place in the Mediterranean waters, starting from the Ecrin beach and facing the islands of Lérins. The run course will take place on the iconic Croisette, fully occupying its southern part. The improved bike course, keeping the feeling and profile of the 2012 edition, will be presented shortly in detail.
Lyon, the third largest city in France will host on 30 June, in the heart of its new HQE* home district – La Confluence, a new edition of the International Triathlon TriStar.
As in 2012, there will be two formats available to the triathletes: TriStar111 and TriStar55.5. The 111km long race starts with 1km swim in the docks of La Confluence: unique and accessible, offering exceptional swimming conditions. Fans can follow their athletes during the entire swim leg and transition… The 100km bike leg crosses the mountains of Lyon with the famous Col de la Croix de Part. Running part and the finish line will be located in the heart of the Lyon peninsula, in the district of La Confluence. TriStar55.5 shares the spotlight, offering 500m of swim, 50km bike and 5km run.
La Confluence will host the TriStar triathlon for the second time. With its ultra modern infrastructure, its docks and quays lined with houseboats, the new district of Lyon was a huge success among triathletes in 2012.
As a new feature in the 2013 edition, the organization prepared a one-day introduction to triathlon on Saturday 29 June. This day will give an opportunity to the curious ones to discover the triple effort in a festive atmosphere! More information on this will be announced in the coming weeks…
Registrations for both events, TriStar Cannes and TriStar Lyon 2013, are now open.
