Tisseyre beats the men at the Sooke Pro Chase Triathlon

Symonds tops the pro men's race.

Beautiful weather greeted athletes on the morning of the 6th annual Subaru Sooke Triathlon. The typical West Coast morning fog even stayed away to allow for amazing views as athletes ran along Whiffin Spit and for TSN to get some incredible aerial shots of Sooke.

Ironman 70.3 Champion Magali Tisseyre of St. Sauveur, QC, who got a 15-minute head start along with the other elite women in the Pro Chase, managed to hold off last year’s third place Pro Chase finisher Jeff Symonds of Penticton to take the Pro Chase Championship title in 2:16:30, crossing the finish line at 9:00:55. Symonds crossed the finish line just over two minutes later, followed by Andrew McCartney of Victoria and Lisa Mensink of Calgary.

Former Biggest Loser contestant Tara Costa, who came all the way from New York to take part in the race, completed the Sprint distance in 1:18:14.

The Subaru Sooke Triathlon will be aired on TSN in September 2012.
