Ironman France

Belgium’s Frederik Van Lierde led from start to finish (50:10 swim, 4:42:00 bike, 2:51:08 run) to win (8:28:30) Ironman France today. Silvia Felt of Germany used the top ride of 5:14:06 to secure her victory (9:34:31).

Canadians finishing second in their respective age groups were Cullen Goodyear (Men 60-64) -14:33:12, and Elizabeth Thompson (Women 55-59) 15:18:05.

Ironman Coeur d’Alene

It was a day of double domination at Ironman Coeur d’Alene.

Penticton’s Tom Evans led the swim (49:07), Germany’s Maik Twelsiek powered through the bike (4:29:09) to the lead onto the run, but two time Ironman Champion Craig Alexander (AUS) outclassed the entire field with a 2:46:54 marathon to take the win (8:19:48). Great Britain’s Julie Dibens led from start to finish to easily take the women’s win (9:16:40).

Canada’s Chad Johnston (Men 40-44), Josh Seifarth (Men 18-24), and Jill Parker (Women 55-59) won their age groups.

Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs

In Lubbock, Texas today, South Africa’s Raynard Tissink and American Kelly Williamson took the men’s and women’s overall titles.

Tissink took control of the race once he mounted his bike where he got to the lead, built on it and ran as hard as he needed to win in 4:03:27. While Williamson swam 24:01 to take the early lead, lost it to Jessica Meyers (USA) during the bike, but ran 1:24:01 to leave everyone in her dust to claim the easy win (4:26:09).
