Al-Sultan and Corbin win Ironman Austria.

Germany’s Faris Al-Sultan swam 50:57, rode a race best 4:25:38 to keep just ahead of Italy’s Daniel Fontana, but once on the run he threw down another race best 2:50:38 marathon to take a commanding 8:11:31 victory of Ironman Austria. Fontana came in next for second (8:20:37), and Portugal’s Pedro Gomes finished third (8:26:31).

American Linsey Corbin earned her win today with her bike. She started the day a few minutes behind Hungary’s Erika Csomor with a 59:18 swim, but rode the top women’s split of 4:54:09 to grab the lead and ran 3:11:07 to stay ahead of Csomor for the victory in 9:09:58. Csomor had the top women’s run of 3:09:55 to take second (9:12:09), and Austria’s Michaela Rudolf finished third (9:44:37).
