Magali Tisseyre wins Ironman 70.3 Mooseman
Fettell wins the men's title, Holtham places fourth.
St. Sauveur’s Magali Tisseyre and Australia’s Clayton Fettell won today’s Ironman 70.3 Mooseman.
The USA’s Mary Beth Ellis, winner of Ironman Texas just two weeks ago, led Tisseyre by 1:43 after the swim, posting the top swim of the day (24:48). Tisseyre then rode a women’s best 2:40:41 to make up 55 seconds on Ellis. Tisseyre then ran a 1:23:31 half marathon to go past Ellis (who ran 1:25:58) for the win in 4:32:40. Ellis held on for second (4:35:11), and Great Britain’s Lesley Paterson ran the top split of the day (1:22:48) to snatch third (4:39:10). St. Jean’s Annie Gervais finished sixth (4:49:48), Miranda Tomenson-Bharadwaj of Toronto took eighth (4:56:06), and Quebec’s Marie Danais completed the top ten (5:01:56).

Fettell got to the front early with a 23:05 swim, extended his lead further with a crushing 2:18:33 bike ride, and finished with a 1:16:57 run to dominate the race with a 4:00:10 clocking. Maxim Kriat (UKR) crossed the finish line next in 4:13:27, and Karl Bodine (USA) took third (4:17:00). Vancouver’s Elliot Holtham finished just 20 seconds later to claim fourth position. Ottawa’s Ryan Grant took seventh in 4:25:12, and Sherbrooke’s Pierre-Yves Gigou finished eighth overall and won the men 25-29 category in 4:26:41.
