Lionel Sanders and Kristen Marchant capture the Binbrook Triathlon
Larry Bradley and Jennifer Faraone win the Duathlon.
Lionel Sanders of Hamilton, and Kristen Marchant of Newmarket won today’s Binbrook Triathlon at Binbrook Conservation Area.
Sanders, one of Canada’s top elite duathletes, trailed after of the 750 m swim, picked up a few seconds during the 30 km bike with the top ride of 43 minutes even, and he laid down a scorching 7.5 km run of 24:52 to go past Wolfgang Guembel of St. Catherines and Cody Beals of Fergus for the win in 1:20:27.

Marchant posted top splits in all three segments (11:34/48:20/30:28) to take victory in the women’s race (1:32:11).

The Duathlon saw Mississauga’s Larry Bradley seize control of the race with his cycling. Bradley ran the first 5 km in 19:12, behind race leader Jesse Bauer of Hamilton (18:51). Bradley then hammered out a race best 30 km ride of 46:25 to get to the front. With Bauer in full on chase mode (18:51 final fun), Bradley ran 20:20 to hold on for the win in 1:27:25.

Toronto’s Jennifer Faraone dominated the women’s race with top splits all across the board. She ran 19:13, biked 51:09, and ran 20:25 to cross the finish line in 1:32:38 to win by just over 6 minutes. In addition to her win two weeks ago at Woodstock, she remains undefeated in the MultiSport Canada Duathlon Series as she prepares for the World Duathlon Championships in Ottawa later this summer.
