Leanda Cave targets the 2014 Commonwealth Games

She plans to defend her Ironman and Ironman 70.3 World Championship titles.

Leanda Cave pulled off the rare double, winning both the Ironman 70.3 World Championship and Ironman World Championship last year, and while she intends on repeating that performance in 2013, she is also targeting a return to the Olympic distance to compete at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

“I race about four Olympic distance triathlons a year and am confident I can make the Commonwealth Games team,” she said to Wales Online. “I want to race in Glasgow and it would be great to be back on home soil and race with Helen (Jenkins) and Non (Stanford), we could have a really good team.”

If she performs well at those games, she will try to fulfill a dream by qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
