Jesse Thomas and Heather Jackson defend at the 31st Wildflower Triathlon

Jeff Symonds finishes 4th and Tenille Hoogland 5th.

American’s Jesse Thomas and Heather Jackson defended their titles at the 31st Wildflower Long Course triathlon.

Thomas battled it out with Australians Leon Griffin and Joe Gambles for most of the race until he was able to shake free of them with a 1:15:12 half marathon to win in 4:02:19. Penticton’s Jeff Symonds lost a bit of ground during the bike, but posted a 1:18:51 run to move up to fourth (4:07:59). Calgary’s Grant Burwash finished ninth (4:19:29).

Jackson secured her title defence with a women’s best 1:26:03 run to win by over 6 minutes (4:33:20). Leading the way out of the water, Victoria’s Tenille Hoogland ended up in fifth (4:50:51), and Penticton’s Janelle Morrison finished tenth (5:04:44).
