Javier Gómez Noya, silver medallist at the London Olympics and twice ITU world triathlon champion has confirmed that he will make his Middle Distance debut on May 19 at Challenge Half Barcelona, which this year is doubling as the official ETU European Half DistanceTriathlon Championships.

The news was made official at a Press Conference at the Higher Sports Council offices in Madrid, attended by some of the senior executives of Spanish sport and the local authorities.

Shortly before the announcement, Olympic triathlete Javier Gomez Noya stated the following: “Hello friends, I am confirming that I’ll be making my Middle Distance debut in Calella at the Half Challenge Barcelona on May 19. I’ll be with you for what is an important challenge in my sporting career: my first ever middle distance race. I hope to enjoy it, to suffer it and hopefully it’ll all go well and the race will be… great! Good luck to all of you, and I’ll see you there!”
