Jan Frodeno and Alicia Kaye win the St. Anthony’s Triathlon

Sara Gross and Jon Bird are the top Canadians.

Germany’s Jan Frodeno and American Alicia Kaye won today’s 30th edition of the St. Anthony’s Triathlon, part of the 5150 Triathlon Series.

Frodeno put up solid splits in all three segments to stay near the front and then ran to victory in the Olympic distance event. Frodeno, the 2008 Olympic Triathlon Gold medallist, swam 19:24, biked 55:01, and ran 31:15 to take the win in 1:47:05.

Kaye, started with a 21:20 swim, gapped the rest of the field with the top ride of 58:41, then ran 35:33 for the 1:57:10 victory.

Victoria’s Sara Gross, who mainly races on the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 circuit, got in some speedwork today and placed 25th (2:07:29). Calgary’s Jon Bird finished 40th (2:01:57) in this stacked professional men’s and women’s event.
