ITU Coteau-du-Lac Results

Findlay and Yorke win.

At the Coteau-du-lac, Quebec today, Edmonton’s Paula Findlay and Caledon’s Andrew Yorke took home wins in the ITU Pan American Cup Elite races.

Findlay swam 20:23, biked 1:06:49, and ran 35:10 to finish the Olympic distance event in 2:03:37. Chantell Widney was second (2:06:11), and Kyla Coates (2:06:51) third.

“I really came here to get one more good race in before heading to Europe and I was able to accomplish that today,” said Findlay to the ITU Media, who added the bike course presented one of the most difficult challenges she has faced in her career. “The bike was extremely challenging so it was a good effort today and I did meet my goals.”

In the final event of the day, Caledon’s Andrew Yorke took the men’s race (1:52:14) by a 34 second margin over the USA’s Ethan Brown (1:52:48). Victoria’s Jeffrey Phillips was third (1:53:12). Yorke swam 19:13, biked 59:03, and ran 32:39.

“This is the best thing that has ever happened to me,” said York following the race. “You name an injury and I have pretty much had it. I have trained so hard through all of these injuries, and that is the hardest thing to do mentally. I usually struggle in the run, but today at the five-kilometre mark, I just ran my guts out and didn’t stop. I have never been so emotional at the end of a race.”

The day’s events also featured Under 15 elite drafting races (500 m swim, 10 km bike, 4 km run), and Junior Elite races (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run). The results are below.
