Ironman World Championship Men’s Preview
Alexander going for third title in a row Saturday.
Australia’s Craig Alexander is the man to beat at this Saturday’s Ironman World Championship.
Alexander will be looking to make it three wins in a row at Kona and if the main contenders allow him to stick close to the front during the bike, the odds are pretty good that he will use his run prowess to get that three-peat.
But make no mistake, the professional men’s field is stacked with dangerous cyclists (Lieto, Twelsiek, Tollakson) , runners (Raelert brothers, Brown, Potts, Bracht, Bockel, Henning), former World Champions (Al-Sultan, McCormack, DeBoom, Stadler), and accomplished all-round racers (Bozzone, Llanos, Vanhoenacker, Beke, Tissink). Canada’s lone men’s professional representative is Calgary’s Scott Curry.
