Ironman China & 70.3 Results

The M’s Win on a hot day.

The USA’s Amy Marsh and Australia’s Luke McKenzie won the Ironman China titles on Sunday.

Marsh, the reigning Ironman Wisconsin Champion, was an impressive 10th overall, finishing the race in 9:52:45 (55:17 swim, 5:10:25 bike, 3:42:43 run), a solid 10 minutes ahead of her next closest competitor, Nicole Leder of Germany (10:02:58).

McKenzie, set the pace on the swim (45:45), and was never serious challenged after that point. Biking 4:37:50, and only needing a 3:14:17 run to secure an 11 minute plus victory.

Mathieu O’Halloran was the fastest Canadian (10:03:01). The 24 year old was 10th among the pro men. Mary Goodacre (Dundas, ON) won the 60-64 age group (14:09:57), and 52 year old Anne Knecht-Boyer was second in the 50-54 age group.

In the 70.3 race, Australia’s Belinda Granger, finished fifth overall, taking home the title for the women (4:42:58), and Sweden’s Fredrik Croneborg won the men’s race (4:15:40).

The top Canadian was Justin Keyes (5:30:22) who was fifth in the 35-39 category.
