Ironman China & 70.3 Results

The USA’s Amy Marsh and Australia’s Luke McKenzie won the Ironman China titles on Sunday.

Marsh, the reigning Ironman Wisconsin Champion, was an impressive 10^th overall, finishing the race in 9:52:45 (55:17 swim, 5:10:25 bike, 3:42:43 run), a solid 10 minutes ahead of her next closest competitor, Nicole Leder of Germany (10:02:58).

McKenzie, set the pace on the swim (45:45), and was never serious challenged after that point. Biking 4:37:50, and only needing a 3:14:17 run to secure an 11 minute plus victory.

Mathieu O’Halloran was the fastest Canadian (10:03:01). The 24 year old was 10^th among the pro men. Mary Goodacre (Dundas, ON) won the 60-64 age group (14:09:57), and 52 year old Anne Knecht-Boyer was second in the 50-54 age group.

In the 70.3 race, Australia’s Belinda Granger, finished fifth overall, taking home the title for the women (4:42:58), and Sweden’s Fredrik Croneborg won the men’s race (4:15:40).

The top Canadian was Justin Keyes (5:30:22) who was fifth in the 35-39 category.
