Wins for Elgazabel and Lidbury.
Spain’s Mikel Elgazabel (4:25:15), and Great Britain’s Emma-Kate Lidbury (5:01:01) took home wins at Wimbleball Lake, England – one of the more challenging races on the Ironman 70.3 circuit in terms of terrain and internet communication.
Women’s race favourite, Samantha Warriner, led the race, then endured some mechanical issues on the bike but worked her way back to fifth (5:09:35). “Led IM 70.3 UK at 60km, punctured and did a ‘Jo’ so cold couldn’t get tyre off,” tweeted Warriner. “T2 18 minutes down, ran up to 8 minutes at finish.”
