Belgium’s Marino Vanhoenacker trailed out of the water in sixth but rode to the front with the top split of the day (2:18:01), and stayed in front with a 1:17:20 half marathon to easy claim the win in 4:06:25. Switzerland’s Ronnie Schildknecht chased hard with the fastest run of 1:17:05 but surrendered too much time to Vanhoenacker during the bike ride and had to settle for second. Italy’s Domenico Passuello took third (4:18:37).

Great Britain’s Jodie Swallow also grabbed a hold of the victory on the 90 km ride. She rode the top split of 2:36:41 and under no serious pressure she ran 1:31:14 to cross the line in 4:39:01. Lucie Zelenkova (CZE) finished second (4:43:56), and in third was Tine Deckers of Belgium (4:46:13).
