Aussies rule at Ironman 70.3 Taiwan

McCormack and Wu win.

The Australian pair Chris McCormack and Michelle Wu won the second edition of Ironman 70.3 Taiwan.

Wu went virtually unchallenged. She crossed the finish line in 4:31:55, close to 25 minutes ahead of her next closest competitor – Maki Nishiuchi of Japan (4:56:17). Wu swam 30:35, biked 2:24:13, and ran 1:33:00.

McCormack had to work a bit harder for his win. McCormack (27:12) led Japan’s Hideo Fukui by one second following the swim, he was unable to shake free of Fukui during the bike ride (McCormack rode 2:03:21), but once on the half marathon course, he ran 1:20:55 to get away from Fukui (1:24:44) for the win in 3:54:47. Fukui finished second (3:58:44), and Fredrik Croneborg of Sweden claimed third (3:59:34).
