2013 Phuket ITU Long Distance Triathlon Series Event Cancelled
Organizers unable to meet ITU standards.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC Phuket) of the 2013 Phuket ITU Long Distance Triathlon Series event regrettably announce cancellation of the 2013 event.
Set to be held 9th and 10th November 2013 in Patong, Phuket, Thailand, the weekend of triathlon activities was to include a series of triathlon events over two days, culminating in the first ever ITU Long Distance triathlon in Thailand.
Part of a series of International Triathlon Union sanctioned Long Distance Triathlon events around the world, the organizers secured a slot for Phuket in the global schedule for November 2013. However, due to reasons out of their control, the organizers feel it is no longer possible to put on the event to global standards specified by ITU in the timeframe remaining. The organizers are disappointed to have to announce cancellation of the 2013 event and will reassess options for Phuket hosting such a prestigious event again in the future.
The organizers would like to thank the provincial authorities for their support throughout.
A full refund will be offered to all Athletes who signed up to take part in any of the 2013 Phuket Long Distance Triathlon Series events over the weekend of the 9th and 10th of November.
