Magog hosts the 2014 National Triathlon Championships this weekend

Canada’s best triathletes from coast-to-coast-to-coast will swim, bike and run in Magog, Quebec this Saturday and Sunday for an action-packed weekend. Led by local organizing committee, Tri-Memphre, the Quebec triathlon community will host more than 1,500 of the best elite, paratriathlon, under-23, junior and age group triathletes in Canada seeking the national title. Canada’s age group triathletes will also have the opportunity to earn one of 10 spots, in each standard and sprint race distance category, for the 2015 World Triathlon Championships in Chicago. Age group athletes vying for one of the World Championship spots must be a full member of their provincial triathlon federation prior to the National Championships.

The weekend will include the following race events:
Pan American Cup Elite (PATCO)
Elite Sprint National Championships
Under-23 National Championships (Sprint)
Junior National Championships (Sprint)
Paratriathlon National Championships
Youth National Championships (13-15 years)
Age Group National Championships (Sprint and Standard)

The Pan Am Cup Elite race is the second Pan Am Cup on Canadian soil this month. Last week saw Dominka Jamniki and Kyle Jones win the Pan Am Cup in Toronto at the Toronto Triathlon Festival. Toronto-based elite Collin Campbell raced in at the TTF and is racing in Magog this weekend as well. While testing out the course this morning Campbell told TMC, “It’s a beautiful day here with a sunny blue sky and stunning view of Lake Memphremagog. You can feel the energy down near transition and the host hotel. It feels much like a mini Lake Placid, tucked in among the mountains here.”
