Americans Cameron Dye and Sarah Haskins won the Life Time Tri Cap Tex  race today in  1:51:41 and 2:00:52 respectively. The race was founded in 1991 and is now part of the Life Time Triathlon Series and fills the streets of Austin on Memorial Day with 3,000 participants. The downtown Austin course features a 1500m non-wetsuit swim, a technical 4-loop city course and a flat and fast 10km run.

Former Canadian Alicia Kaye was a close second in 2:01:31 followed by Uplace-BMC Pro Triathlon Team member Helle Frederickson in 2:01:46. Of the women’s race Frederickson said, “We just push each other so hard. It’s the little things that determine whether you finish first, second or third.” The winner of Ironman 70.3 San Juan continued, “Today I got the third spot. I am happy to get on the podium. But it was super, super hard. We had some different conditions today with a lot of rain in the morning, so the course was slippery. With four laps you just have to be careful in the turns, but I managed to stay on my bike. I felt really strong; my training is paying off. Today was not my day to win, but that day will come.”

On the men’s side Ben Collins was second in 1:52:48 and Michael Poole was third in 1:54:03.
