Ultraman world champion challenges triathletes to Epic Day
The defending Ultraman world champion, Calgary's Jordan Bryden, challenges athletes through the "Solitary Confinement Epic Ride Challenge.
Jordan Bryden, the current Ultraman world champion, is taking it to the basements, garages, and pain caves all across Canada and the world this June 6th in his inaugural “Solitary Confinement Epic Ride Challenge.”
Participants will be given the choice to see how many laps of the Zwift Virtual Reality course called Tempus Fugit in either a twelve or twenty-hour hour period.
Bryden’s event is designed to reunite the ultra cycling and triathlon communities in a novel and challenging way, while giving athletes who have never tried an ultra-endurance event the opportunity to experience “going long” in a safe, social and supportive environment.
“I would really like to connect with the ultra community and use my position as a graphic designer to provide athletes the incentive to pursue an endurance goal at a time where finisher medals are not an option,” Bryden says.
An additional incentive for riders are the jerseys (real, not virtual) on offer. There will be different jerseys you can earn based on the distance you complete, as well as special jerseys for the sprint winner and overall winner of the Solitary Confinement Ride.
